Ready or Not . . . Get Set Go (An Entrepreneurs Guide to Starting and Maintaining a Successful Business)

Easy Read & Informative
In comparison to other books that I have read and/or bought, this one is highly recommended as a must read. The book is informative in so many ways. Example: the chapter on zoning was to the point minus legal jargon; and the usual redundant babble that is of no value for being an entrepreneur, it's only to fill up the page. I've found that most books on being an entrepreneur graze over the topics and don't get to the meat of the subject, but this one does, which is what I wanted and needed. I'm the type of person that needs specifics and for things to be in plain terms - - I'm not one for beating around the bush. This book is a definite keeper, and I use it often as a reference at home and in my new company as an entrepreneur.

Where was this book 2 yrs ago?!?
I've bought a lot of supposed "entrepreneur guide" books that have not been a waste of my money and I started to pass this one up. The lady at the book fare convinced me (after 20 mins) and I'm glad I made the investment. I'm writing this review because this book was a God-send for me, and I KNOW it will be for you. It's plain, simple and straight to the point; no unnecessary jargon, no dictionary or attorney needed for comprehension. I followed the steps listed and believe it or not EVERYTHING WORKED! My company is up and running, and it's only because this book is written in layman's terms, nothing technical. Yes, it took 2 years to find a true entrepreneur guide, but the timing could not have been better. This one is highly recommended. I've bought copies and passed it on to other up and coming entrepreneurs and it has benefited them all as well. Sheila Taylor-Downer, THANKS for writing this book; Great Job!

For anyone aspiring to become their own boss

If you are contemplating having a business of your own, begin with a careful reading of Ready Or Not...Get Set Go -- it will be the best investment of your time and money that you could make in deciding whether or not to go out on your own in today's highly competitive marketplace.

Road Movie

Author: Godfrey Hamilton

A fantastic poetic journey across the hearts landscape
Seeing an announcement for an upcoming stage production here in Los Angeles, I decided to read this text. What I read not only moved me, but Hamilton's use of romantic and phantastical landscapes took me on a journey I have never before experienced. Joel, a hard driving, hard drinking publicicty director drives across the US to a voice (a siren?) calling him to the shores of love. Along the way he encounters three very damaged and very strong women. Ma Diva, a condom distibuting mother, Myra, a diner-locked divorcee and Dharma a sad and wounded child of a hippie. The strength love and loss these women pass on to Joel serves as the spine of this incredible poem....play....landscape. Read This Book!

SUPERB MIX OF POETRY AND HUMOR
I saw this play in London a year or so ago, then again at a festival in Toronto. Reading the text brought the entire experience vividly back to me ... I particularly loved the way the text seamlessly blends poetry and humor. And that the 'gay' subject matter is a springboard into something universal and accessible to just about everyone. A brilliant read, and a neat format, like having a little poetry chapbook in my pocket !

A harrowing yet realistic look at modern gay romance.
Godfrey Hamilton has created one of the defining works of gay theater with his play "Road Movie." At once uplifting and heartwrenching "Road Movie" is a journey of self-discovery for both the characters and the audience. The plot centers upon the experiences of Jeff, a gay man with AIDS. His search for emotional fulfillment in the face of an uncaring community and fatal disease is extraordinary and realistic.

Rums of the eastern Caribbean
Published in Unknown Binding by Tafia Publishing (01 October, 1995)
Author: Edward Hamilton
Average review score:

A real gem, but . . .
. . . visit ministryofrum.com (Edward Hamilton's website). Or travel to Culebra, Puerto Rico (a beautiful, sleepy, non-commercialized island off PR's east coast) and pick up a copy. Life's an adventure - this book will help ease you along the way!

Excellent Caribbean travel guide for rum lovers!
A great resource for the rum lover planning a trip to the Caribbean. The brief introduction to the history of rum and its distillation process can serve rum enthusiasts and neophytes alike to better understand and appreciate this wonderful spirit.

The book is divided into sections, each one dedicated to one of the Eastern Caribbean Islands. Within each section, readers will find a complete listing of the local distilleries, along with pictures of the labels produced and a brief descriptions of what makes the particular rums unique.

While some rum connoisseurs may be disappointed by the lack of detailed tasting notes for each rum, they will certainly be delighted by the otherwise generous amount of rum-related information for each island, such as distillery tours and rum shop locations.

Well-researched, indespensible for the SERIOUS rum hunter!
Mr. Hamilton's in-depth research is evident as he takes the reader by the hand to visit rum distilleries, both large and small, throughout the islands. Details on the methods, contents, and history of each rum is finely detailed. One of the finest touches this book has is an almost complete visual listing of most of the rum bottle labels used. For the serious rum collector/taster, I found this guidebook to be indespensible when shopping for pedigreed rums in the Indies. I collect and display the artful bottle labels of these glorious and hisotical spirits and wouldn't dream of rum-shopping in the Caribbean without this valuable reference!

Stories in My Pocket: Tales Kids Can Tell
Published in Audio Cassette by Fulcrum Publishing (June, 2000)
Authors: Martha Hamilton and Mitch Weiss
Average review score:

Kids can hit the ground running as storytellers with this!
This book is an excellent companion to the authors' book "Children Tell Stories." That book helps adults set up and develop kids' storytelling programs in a very comprehensive manner. This book provides stories with which to do this.

The stories are arranged by difficulty, with excellent telling suggestions alongside the text of the story. Some are even set up for tandem telling, which I find kids often want to try, but struggle to find a way to make it work.

The stories come from a variety of sources, and they are all guaranteed to please at least one of the kids in your class or group who wish to tell. As one who has coached many middle-school kids to tell their first story, I find these stories to be excellent in helping those kids who are just not sure how they should proceed. I highly recommend it for kids who want to tell and the adults who nurture this desire in them!

great for the classroom
As an elemntary teacher, I love this book. The book contains 30 stories representing different cultures with clever plots and defined characters. This versatile book is written for beginning storytellers but can be used in the classroom in several ways. The delightful stories are great read alouds that teach students how to develope characters and build experience for their own writing. The easy to use stories encourage the natural storytelling talent of childres who love to perform. The guide along the side helps with expressions and voice inflections allowing the students the confidence to develope their own style. Another benefit of this book, although probably not the intention of the authors, is that it builds the skills reguired for the NYS 4th grade ELA exam. Students learn techniques of using storyboards, listening for details and identifying major events and seguences of a story. This is a classroom must.

from: Territorial Tattler
If you teach storytelling to children, you'll want a copy of this book. The first 18 pages, addressed to the kids, explain how to choose, learn, and perform a story. Then follow 30 tales laid out in mouth-sized pieces, with parallel columns suggesting gestures and vocal intonations to use. Ranging from fables and folktales to short literary gems, all are appealing and accessible to the beginner. At the end of the book is a section for adults, giving both pedagogical arguments and practical suggestions for ensuring success for young tellers. Detailed source notes and additional story suggestions round out the grown up section. Hamilton & Weiss have distilled excellent advice from their 16+ years experience working with young tellers. I think self-motivated students could use this book on their own; but an adult, using the content and tone of the authors' sections addressed to children, will be equipped to start a youth storytelling group with confidence.

What To Do When You Are Dead: Living Better in the Afterlife
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publications (December, 2001)
Authors: Graig Hamilton-Parker and Steinar Lund
Average review score:

Wonderfully Wise Book!
I just finished reading Craig's great book. The title is a bit deceptive - It's not only about the afterlife, dying and perhaps returning, it's also contains much wisdom concerning what existence and conciousness are all about, along with our purpose on earth and our purpose in the grand scheme of things. The author has written about various ideas printed elsewhere over the years plus some of his own thoughts. The reader is enlightened to make his/her own choices in what to believe, but in the process the reader's conciousness is greatly expanded. As someone else in another review said, it's hard to put the book down once you've started reading. Also, the color drawings are beautiful. The afterlife is probably more of a state of "absolute awareness" but the drawings will enthrall our human mind.

Review from Psychic News the UK's Spiritualist Newspaper
Psychic News has been following the career of the mediums Craig and Jane Hamilton-Parker for many years now and we have enjoyed watching them progress from television psychics for the Big Breakfast to the international recognition they enjoy today. We are particularly interested in seeing how Craig is making a big splash in the USA. Just before Christmas he appeared on American television to talk about his best selling books which are selling in the region of 150,000 copies a year. The Americans just love his easy to understand approach to mediumship.

Craig's latest book has just been released in the UK and is titled "What to do when you are dead" Not surprisingly, it has already been awarded the 'best title of year' by a leading American magazine. Now it is set to take the UK market by storm. "The title may sound a little silly to some people," says Craig "but it is serious Spiritualism that is packaged in a way that will appeal to a wide range of people. I really enjoy reaching out to ordinary people with our message of hope that is based upon the empirical evidence of mediumship. Serious students of mediumship are of course inspired by the Spiritualist classics but nowadays many of these are too weighty for the beginner. At the same time, there are many books on the American market that make my blood boil, as they are pure fantasy without any substance to back up their fantastic claims. I hope my books can present sensible ideas about the afterlife to a somewhat bewildered public in a spirit of cheerfulness and compassion.

'What to do when you are dead' is not fantasy. It is based on information revealed through proven spirit communicators and from those who have had near-death experiences. Its Spiritualist inspired ideas are also complimented by mystical teachings from Eastern traditions. You will come away with answers to many questions about life and death including:

How do you know you are dead?
Will I be able to contact loved ones left behind?
Do guardian angels exist?
What happens when someone dies suddenly?
Can I will myself to come back?

In addition, the book considers what it is like to live in the afterlife and what day-today life is like over there. "I have tried to tackle some difficult ideas", says Craig. "Naturally I have drawn upon many classical Spiritualist ideas but also asked questions about the nature of reality. I have tried to show that the Afterlife is not a place as such but a state of being. There are also things in the book that many Spiritualists may not agree with such as the question of reincarnation and whether there is a conclusion to the continuous evolution of the human soul. I certainly do not have all the answers but I hope the book will make people think and so begin their own odyssey to find out the truth for themselves."

"What to do when you are dead" is a landmark book and is beautifully presented. It has full colour illustrations throughout by the artist Steinar Lund and is printed on quality paper and in a large format. Copies are available from your local bookshop and Psychic News from the 14th February.

wonderful book
This book,is well worth reading,it has so many things that apply to everyone and some that will help people grieving.it is a feel good book and made simple to understand for all of us.It is the best read ever and once you start you cant put it down.Providing you believe in all things spiritual it will be worth getting this book now.The pictures are very good in the book and you can see a lot of time went in to it

child no longer
Personally, I loved this book. Poor Talley falling for the bad boy. come on, girls, you know the old story. You say no, your heart says yes, you fight it it til you give in. It's love, it's life. It's crazy. It's real. It raises many new questions also in the readers mind about the skin their in, the life they lead, the lovers they have . . . . If you were Talley, you would fall to for the David with charms until you grow up and see the true thing-Victor Davis in this case-to be for you. :))

good story
i found this book, to be a good read. i just didn't like how Teely felt under David's charm so quick.

It was a well written book.
This book is a wonderfully written book. Its realsim is astonishing.I recommend this book highly.

World's Finest Archives, Vol. 1
Published in Hardcover by Diamond Comic Dist. Star Sys. (March, 1999)
Authors: Edmond Hamilton, Bill Finger, Curt Swan, and Dick Sprang
Average review score:

Triple play!
This book is a must for ALL comic fans.It reprints stories from the 50'ss and 60's that team up Superman,Batman and Robin!Such comis aren't printed today, sadly.See how Superman and Batman learned each other's identities and teamed up for the FIRST time.Watch as they sove baffling mysteries.I love this book because the stories are action-packed and it features great artwork from the Golden Age!If you are a hero fan, read about the Dynamic Duo and Superman! Now THAT'S a plan!

Guilty Pleasure
These characters no longer exist in comics today. I'm talking about the smiling Batman, the wisecracking Robin, and the Superman whose biggest worry was his secret identity. In fact, they don't even make comics like this anymore. We are now awash in 3-D computer generated graphics and colorization, unusual panelling, and thicker paper stock. This book will take you back to the 50's and 60's with the clever, simpler stories. It was still a challenge to team a much weaker Batman with Superman and make it work. Yet, the writers of World's Finest made it happen again and again. This is fine reading and one of the best volumes in the DC Archives series.

Great Stories from the Golden and Silver ages
When I was a boy I loved reading the DC line-up of comics. Action comics, Superman, Batman, Detective, JLA, Flash, Adventure, Metal Men, Jimmy Olsen and WORLD'S FINEST were my favorite books.

If you enjoyed these stories as I did, but lost your comic collection along the way - as I did - then this is a book for you.

Handsomely bound in a hard cover with jacket cover art remenisant of the old days, the book has 16 full color, complete tales from Superman #76 and World's Finest #71 thru 85.

The price tag will probably keep younger readers from buying the book, but then, younger readers would probably scoff at the tales and art we enjoyed in the late fifties and thru the sixties.

The trip down memory lane couldn't find better company than Batman, Robin and Superman of old. I'm anxiously awaiting volume two to appear.

Alexander Hamilton and the Idea of Republican Government
Published in Hardcover by Stanford Univ Pr (June, 1970)
Author: Gerald Stourzh
Average review score:

A great book
This is the best book on Hamilton ever written and among the best books on republican government. It is truly a joy to read, a "page-turner" even if you never thought a page-turner possible among academic books.

THE author who understands Hamilton's statesmanship best.
I discovered Prof. Stourzh's book by accident in 1974 in a Dallas bookstore at a time when I was writing a term paper on the statesmanship of Alexander Hamilton. Every book (then current) that I came across seemed to dwell on collateral things (e.g. the Jefferson vs. Hamilton thing, or the "Maria Reynolds Affair" etc.) that purported to explain Hamilton as "man and politician", and therefore explain Hamilton's "politics". But since I was already well read in Aristotle, Cicero, Aquinas, Machiavelli, Locke, Montesquieu, The Federal Convention Notes, The Federalist, de Tocqueville, etc.; and since I was already familiar with THE quintessential theme running throughout all of political philosophy -- namely, the critical role of "founder" in the establishment of good government -- I found every book on Hamilton to be grossly inadequate for my needs, and even a bit presumptuous and overrated . . . that is, until I came across Prof. Stourzh's book on Alexander Hamilton & The Idea of Republican Government.

Here is an author who hits the bull's eye of the target. With the exception of only one other author (Professor Paul Eidelberg, who has written excellently on The American Founding), I seriously doubt there will ever be another writer on Hamilton who will surpass Professor Stourzh's understanding of Alexander Hamilton as Hamilton understood himself -- a statesman of the first order, founder of republican government, driven by that ruling passion of the noblest minds: Honor. Professor Stourzh's book captures this essence. There is tremendous depth to this book. Therefore, you don't read this book -- you STUDY this book, in exactly the same way that you study Aristotle's POLITICS or Machiavelli's PRINCE. That is, word-by-word, line-by-line, paragraph-by-paragraph, and then you start over again.

ALEXANDER HAMILTON & THE IDEA OF REPUBLICAN GOVERNMENT is one of those "great books" that is truly a classic. That is, its value is universal and timeless. The fact that this book is out-of-print is, ironically, a testament to its enduring value. The fact that this book is out-of-print means that its would-be purchaser must search long and hard to find this treasure trove. This effort only prepares the reader for what he must do, next, if he is to truly appreciate this book once the reader finds it: Again, this book is intended to be read word-by-word, line-by-line, paragraph-by-paragraph, and then you start over again, this time with pen & paper in hand. This book should be on the shelf of every man and woman who is a serious student of republican government, whether he or she be teacher, professor, lawyer, judge, politician, or aspiring statesman -- or plain old, ordinary citizen.

In short, Professor Stourzh is THE author on Alexander Hamilton who understands Hamilton and Hamilton's Statesmanship, BEST.
